Port Oostende

The blue economy encompasses all economic activities connected to oceans, seas, and coasts — an area of strong focus in Flanders. As one of the largest coastal ports in the region, we specialise in niche markets within the blue economy, placing particular emphasis on less familiar sectors such as energy supply, offshore wind energy, and offshore aquaculture.

The focus is to continue to use products and materials of the highest quality in the economy. What is waste for one company is raw material for another.

Loose goods or general cargo entering the port by ship are unloaded on the quay. Port Oostende has several sand and gravel terminals. For project cargo the flexible REBO heavy weight quay with a carrying capacity of 20t/m2 is an extremely suitable storage place for large and heavy general cargo.

Port Oostende has 5 roll-on roll-off berths: two double decks and one side loader. The RORO locations are close to the road network and well accessible. In addition, Port Oostende annually receives a number of cruises from the higher market segment.

The blue food sector consists of fisheries, aquaculture, and the fish processing industry.
