Port Oostende continues investing in infrastructure
Port Oostende is making great strides in further developing its sites with significant investments in its infrastructure to further support roll-on-roll-off activities. The port continues to strengthen its role as an important maritime logistics link in the region by implementing strategic improvements that increase the efficiency and safety of its facilities.
One of the projects is the modernisation of the Tilbury terminal, located along Vergunningenstraat and R31 towards Bredene, where the port will invest heavily in the installation of a new fence, new lighting, facilities for dock workers and an advanced camera system. These measures are intended to make the site more attractive for roll-on-roll-off traffic by early next year.
Also, the Belrail site in Plassendale has recently been specifically used as a maritime logistics zone. This will enable the port to respond even better to the increasing demand for space for logistics developments.
Another important development is the investment now underway at Vlotdok with asphalting, the installation of a new fence, as well as a new high-voltage cabin, new lighting and a high-performance camera system.
In line with the further modernisation of the port, dilapidated sheds 3 and 4 were also recently demolished at this location. This creates space for new developments and optimises the use of the available land as a logistics maritime zone.
Earlier this year, Port Oostende invested in the security of its REBO and OSSCO terminal at the Zeewezendok.
With this series of investments amounting to over 1.5 million euros, Port Oostende is setting a clear course towards sustainable and future-proof growth. By further focusing on roll-on-roll-off, the port strengthens its position in the logistics network
"Port Oostende continues to invest in forward-looking solutions. These investments strengthen our diversification strategy and reinforce our important position in the Flemish port landscape. With our improved infrastructure and focus on safety, sustainability and innovation, we are not only responding to today's needs, but ensuring we are ready for tomorrow's challenges."
"The investments in our infrastructure not only contribute to strengthening Port Oostende, but they also provide an important boost to local employment. By expanding our activities, we will create even more new jobs and further strengthen economic growth in the region."`
